NASA Selects Lifeboat Foundation Proposal

NASA has selected our proposal as one of the best proposals out of the 402 that were submitted.

NASA has invited us to send someone to present at an "Ideas Synthesis" workshop that they will conduct in Houston and via virtual presence. We have selected our Kevin Berry to be our representative at this event.

In addition, NASA invited members of our Asteroid/Comet Impacts Board, Media & Arts Board, and our Space Settlement Board to a Grand Challenge Forum on September 20, 2013. Our board members ended up being over 10% of the attendees to the Grand Challenge Forum.

Frederik Pohl Passes Away

Our Frederik Pohl has passed away.

Despite being 93, he worked to "Safeguard Humanity" to the end. He was a key player in this year's "Lifeboat to the Stars" event. The award was given to the authors of "Tau Ceti".

Fred also participated in our DARPA/NASA 100-Year-Starship proposal which eventually led to us gaining enough experience in creating NASA proposals that we got our first NASA win.

Fred will be memorialized forever on our Advisory Board Memorial at http://lifeboat.com/ex/board.memorial

We will miss him.

World's First Bitcoin Endowment Fund Nears One Hundred Thousand Dollars

Thanks to a large pledge of 500 BTC (bitcoins) by Brian Cartmell, Lifeboat Foundation's bitcoin endowment fund at https://lifeboat.com/ex/bitcoins has soared to nearly $100,000. Brian will match the next 500 BTC donated to Lifeboat Foundation.

Also, to give back to the bitcoin community, Lifeboat Foundation has created the first Windows version of oclvanitygen in the world that runs well on high-end AMD cards. (Our version runs nearly four times as fast as the old version!) You can download it for free at http://lifeboat.com/oclvanitygen. oclvanitygen is used to create vanity bitcoin addresses such as our bitcoin address 1Lifeboatu7Y9YqKQRcXfjWYJdXog9CS7r that begins with 1Lifeboat.

Dupont Summit

The Policy Studies Organization (PSO) has invited the Lifeboat Foundation to submit a program proposal for their upcoming Dupont Summit 2013 on science, technology, and environmental policy issues, at the historic Whittemore House in Washington, DC on Friday, December 6th. The PSO's intent for this conference is to provide individuals, businesses, NGOs, and institutions the opportunity to present on and discuss the issues that are most important to them with a diverse audience. To this end, they include academics, business leaders, policy makers, and researchers and provide ample networking opportunities to create connections across disciplines.

The Lifeboat Foundation is working with our board members to develop proposals for the Dupont Summit 2013.
