Advisory Board

Benjamin Anderson

Benjamin Anderson is Managing Partner and Business Development Advisor at Articulate Ventures and Advisory Board member at Wand USA. He is a technologist and independent researcher who focuses on uncovering novel intervention strategies in complex systems.

Ben joined Articulate Ventures in 2022 as the Director of Business. The company is a PR & Marketing firm that uses unconventional tactics to get you the right kind of attention. Their flagship offering is the Legacy Interview. This is a two-hour recorded interview. It is a recording of what someone has experienced, the lessons they have learned, and the family values they want to pass down.

Ben is the Executive Producer for The Vance Crowe Podcast, a show that has hosted hundreds of guests to talk about patterns they have observed in business, culture, and science that are ahead of their peers’ observations.

With the company at the growth stage, Ben in April 2023 became the Business Development Advisor and continues to support the company.

In 2018, Ben Founded Wand USA where he was the CEO and the Director until 2022 when a private equity firm acquired his majority stake in Wand. The Wand USA application utilizes the Uber model to connect consumers and freelance service providers in the residential cleaning industry. Wand Pro is a backend tool for small to medium-sized janitorial companies to easily integrate scheduling, invoicing, customer communication, supply ordering, and more into their businesses.

Post-acquisition, Ben maintains a minority stake in Wand and serves as an advisor to the new CEO upon request to offer input on subjects related to business strategy and ongoing technical development of the platform. Watch This Is Wand.

Ben dropped out of college for the first time in 2016, to start a business out of high school “selling air” and cofounded AirTech Solutions. The company provided in-depth indoor air quality analysis for homes and businesses in the area and acted as an affiliate and distributor for a variety of HVAC and air purification system manufacturers. It was acquired in 2017.

He continued as Product Manager and worked on Marketing and Product Development at Chad+Co, where he also created, grew, and managed an Amazon store.

Ben joined webRunes as Marketing Manager in 2018 and stayed there for almost three years. The webRunes team aims to revolutionize the way users browse by utilizing blockchain technology for metadata storage, machine learning for automatic data processing, and creates a machine-readable web that can be filtered using semantics for a more user-centric experience.

During these years, Ben learned how to code, and in 2018 his search for his career led him to start WAND — an Uber-like app for house cleaners shortly before moving back to St. Louis to study biomedical engineering.

His goal in studying biomedical engineering was to make a contribution to the field of aging research, thereby extending the amount of time we all have to enjoy our lived experiences.

He eventually dropped out for the 2nd time, as WAND was making him enough while college wasn’t giving him the ROI he wished for. He instead leaned fully forward into building WAND. When selling the value of his app to customers, he would pitch it as a way for them to buy back the one thing that they thought they couldn’t: time.

Ben now focuses on helping people come to terms with time through something they call a Legacy Interview. In addition to these interviews, he is back to exploring the mechanisms underlying aging. He does this now through independent research, intersecting his knowledge base in biology and software to come to novel conclusions about where order and causality reside in chaotic and complex systems.

Ben is currently building a lab in Saint Louis to run some experiments. You can follow his progress at Lab Spec & Insights.

He also speaks at Workshops and Conferences. Among others, he appeared at the Zuzalu’s Longevity Biotech Conference: Bioelectricity & Aging, Foresight Institute’s Longevity Frontiers Workshop 2023 with Bioelectricity & Aging and Constructive Criticism in Longevity Space.
