Ramon Gomes Durães de Olivera, MSc

Ramon Gomes Durães de Olivera, MSc is Software Developer of Computational Intelligence at SingularityNET. His main interest lies in data science, machine learning, bioinformatics, and computer vision and applying it to medical, biological, and healthcare applications.

Before joining SingularityNET projects, Ramon worked as Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer at Gerdau for almost 3 years.

Ramon worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, where he created the computational didactic material for the Fuzzy Systems undergraduate level module at the School of Engineering. The main topics included fuzzy regression, classification, and clustering.

At the UFMG, he worked in partnership with the Hermes Pardini Institute to automate an exam for Hemochromatosis, titled Data-driven Genotype Classification in a Probe-based Real Time PCR Exam for Hemochromatosis.

Previously he was doing a Research Internship on Deep Learning in the Computer Vision Laboratory at the University of Nottingham. His focus was on the study of automatic facial expression recognition using deep learning (autoencoders). Previously he studied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, obtaining First Class Honors in 5 out of 8 modules.

Ramon was also a member of Autobotz from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in 2014, where he was responsible for the strategy team. Their main focus was on intelligent sensory data processing and route planning.

Between 2012 and 2014, he was doing a Volunteer Research Internship on Discrete Event Systems at the Laboratory of Control and Analysis of Discrete Event Systems (LACSED), UFMG School of Engineering, Federal University of Minas Gerais.

Ramon earned his Master’s Degree of Science in Computational Intelligence in 2018 and his Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the Control and Automation Engineering in 2016 — both from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. In 2015, he also earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence from the University of Nottingham, UK.

Ramon continues to explore his curiosity through self-motivation by keeping up with recent changes in the field and is taking online courses. Among others, he earned Deep Learning Specialization, Sequence Models, and Convolutional Neural Networks in 2018. He earned Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization, and Optimization, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, and Structuring Machine Learning Projects in 2017, and Machine Learning in 2016, all from Coursera. In 2016, he earned his certification from Stanford University on Statistical Learning with Distinction.
