Nuno R. B. Martins

Nuno R. B. Martins is a Ph.D. candidate in Nanomedicine. He created his own company to fund his education. He graduated from the inaugural year of the Singularity University at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, California in August 2009. Singularity University (SU) is an interdisciplinary university (based at the NASA Ames campus in Silicon Valley) whose mission is to assemble, educate, and inspire a cadre of leaders who strive to understand and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies in order to address humanity’s grand challenges. He was awarded a full scholarship of $25,000 to attend Singularity University. He was also awarded with the prize “Seeds of Science Junior 2010”.
He has a licentiate (Bachelor) in mathematics. In each of the five years as a student he received merit awards and at the end of his licentiate he received an academic merit award, awarded by the Portuguese government. While still a 4th year student, and after finishing his licentiate, he was a teaching assistant in calculus and mathematical logic. Nuno also has a course in theoretical neuroscience.
During his free time from his licentiate in Mathematics, he completed several courses related to health care. He is a certified emergency medical technician, he took two certified beach lifeguard courses, and he is a teacher of several sports: a swimming teacher, a professional tennis teacher, a bodybuilding and aero-fitness teacher, and a powerlifting teacher. He also completed a course in nutrition.
