Kaila Colbin

Kaila Colbin, Ambassador for Singularity University in New Zealand, is a creative entrepreneur with a passion for extraordinary experiences and a fanaticism for excellent communication — a bridge builder between possibility and practicality. Her purpose in life is to be an uplifting presence. She is TEDx licensee for TEDxChristchurch in New Zealand.

Kaila graduated from Cornell University where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Hotel Management. After her graduation she has been working at multiple companies, mostly as Manager and Consultant. She became a Director at Missing Link Consultants, using social media marketing to make the world a better place.

Since 2007 she has been contributing for MediaPost, a marketing and advertising company from New York City, where she still writes regularly today and has been part of MiniMonos.com as Chief Marketing Officer for four years. MiniMonos is a virtual world for kids who love to play and love the planet. A year later she cofounded Falcon Training, a project management training company in Christchurch, NZ.

In June 2010, she became a Curator for TEDxChristchurch, TEDxEQChCh, and TEDxChCh and in 2012 she cofounded the Ministry of Awesome. It exists to water the seeds of awesome in Christchurch, NZ. It’s a three-ingredient recipe: bring people together, provide social proof of awesome things happening, and provide structured support so people can turn their own awesome ideas into reality.

Her recognition in Christchurch grew stronger and she became Deputy Chair at CORE Education with established relationships with the Ministry of Education and took a role as a Director at ChristchurchNZ, the city’s economic development and city profile agency. She is also a member of Global Women in New Zealand.

Internationally she became Chairman of the Board at the Natural Gourmet Institute based in New York City and Certified ExO Consultant at ExO Works. It was built to catapult established organizations into the world of exponential thinking and disruptive innovation in order to help them successfully navigate the fourth industrial revolution.

In 2015, Kaila became Curator and New Zealand Ambassador for Singularity University and organizer of SingularityU Australia Summit 2018.
