Dan Levitt, MSc, CHE

Dan Levitt, MSc, CHE, is the CEO at Kin Village, Adjunct Professor in Gerontology teaching Long Term Care Administration at Simon Fraser University, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia School of Nursing. He is an acclaimed international speaker, elder care leader, writer, and gerontologist, specializing in helping others to create better lives for seniors. Dan is a Board Member at the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia and of Global Aging Network and a Member of the Board of Directors at the International Federation of Aging.

Since 2021 at Kin Village, Dan helps with social, spiritual, and care needs for more than 300 seniors, with a team of hundreds of employees and volunteers in a commitment to continuously improving quality of life.

Previously, between 2010 and 2021, Dan was the Executive Director at Tabor Village, where he guided and cared for the needs of seniors for 11 years.

His adventure exploits have taken him from Africa’s highest peak Mt. Kilimanjaro to the Caribbean Sea’s Planacar Reef, from canoeing across the Yukon to racing the Six World Major Marathons: Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, New York, and Tokyo.

Dan has appeared on television and radio as well as authored many articles in newspapers and professional journals. Specializing in helping others to create better lives for seniors. Dan’s purpose is to teach millions of people how to transform the lives of older adults across the globe.

He has published numerous articles in academic, professional, and trade publications, and as a popular professional speaker he frequently speaks at regional, national, and international conferences. He has delivered inspiring keynote speeches impacting thousands of people on four continents. After speaking at a conference in Shanghai, China he was asked to join the Board of Directors of the International Association of Homes and Services for the Aged.

In 2011, he was on the Ascent Climb Team 2011 within the Alzheimer Society of B.C. where he was climbing Africa’s highest peak Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money for Alzheimer’s Disease. After summiting, Dan joined the Board of Directors to help better serve the needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and their families.

Among other notable positions, Dan was the Secretary and Treasurer at the Health Care Leaders Association of B.C. for 5 years, the Director at B.C Hospice and Palliative Care Association, the Administrator at The Residence at Morgan Heights, Manager at Tapestry Foundation for Health Care, and the Director at Haro Park Centre.

Between 2005 and 2007, Dan was Executive Director at the Little Mountain Residential Care and Housing Society and for more than 7 years, he was Chapter President at B.C. Lower Mainland Chapter of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives until 2005.

Dan earned his Master’s of Science Degree with a specialization in retirement and long-term care administration at the Centre for Studies in Aging from the University of North Texas in 1994. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Psychology from The University of British Columbia in 1992. He earned his Certificate in Fundraising from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2006 and is a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders.

Dan was guest speaker at the International Conference Healthy Masters in 2021 and in 2020.
