Amy Sterling Casil, MFA

Amy Sterling Casil, MFA is an English Instructor at Palomar College in San Marcos, California. She has been a Professor at Chapman University, Moorpark College, and Pierce College. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing with full honors in 1999 from Chapman University.

She is an award-winning science fiction, fantasy, and nonfiction writer and artist. She is published in all media, including 30 nonfiction, 3 novels, 3 short fiction, hundreds of short stories, thousands of articles, multiple text book passages, and poetry collections.

Her work includes Shakespeare in Hell, Shadow Conspriracy II, Female Science Fiction Writer: Collected Stories 2001–2012, The Instrumentality of Women, Without Absolution: Science Fiction Stories, Buzz Aldrin: The Pilot of the First Moon Landing (The Library of Astronaut Biographies), John Dewey: The Founder of American Liberalism (The Library of American Thinkers), Johnny Punkinhead, Pancreatic Cancer: Current and Emerging Trends in Detection and Treatment (Cancer and Modern Science), and IncrediBuilds: Paris: Eiffel Tower Deluxe Book and Model Set. She received the Crombie Allen Award twice for fiction writing at the Claremont College.

In 2014 she founded Chameleon Publishing which is dedicated to the proposition that all people will be readers, and that some — will be writers. “We believe that books are health food for the mind. We are a trade publisher of fiction and nonfiction in the world’s largest $150 billion market for entertainment and media. It’s not television, it’s not film, it’s not music, it’s not online media. It is the book!”

She is the founder and CEO of Pacific Human Capital. It is a full-service business plan and fund development company which helps clients to establish and grow their business anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. She has participated in the founding of over 180 small to medium enterprises in a variety of sectors. Her mission and favorites are women and minority or non-traditional entrepreneurs.

As Vice President of Development for the progressive Los Angeles social service and housing development organization Beyond Shelter (2005–2011), she raised approximately $57 million from public and private sources for business operations and oversaw the development and successful completion of projects including the 3-year, $11.7 million Skid Row Families Demonstration Project, which assisted 250 homeless families in obtaining and establishing healthy, positive lives in safe, decent housing in residential neighborhoods in Los Angeles County.

Amy was the Executive Director of the Family Service Association of Redlands. The organization is and has been dedicated to helping those in need in their community for more than 120 years. FSA Redlands is a safety net program designed to assist those with basic needs such as food, housing, and clothing for the homeless, at-risk homeless, and low income residents of the East Valley.

She is a founding member and currently treasurer of the Book View Cafe which incorporated in 2013 as a member-owned cooperative publishing corporation.
