New page

Atmosphere - An atmosphere (New Latin atmosphaera, created in the 17th century from Greek ἀτμός [atmos] "vapor" and σφαῖρα [sphaira] "sphere") is a layer of gases that may surround a material body of sufficient mass, and that is held in place by the gravity of the body. An atmosphere may be retained for a longer duration, if the gravity is high and the atmosphere's temperature is low. Some planets consist mainly of various gases, but only their outer layer is their atmosphere. (source: Wikipedia)

Tending to the quality of atmosphere and in some cases needing to create it bring this issue into place a fundamental need for skills and information preservation. This category should be of primary interest to those considering off planet colonization efforts, but has aspects equally important to a rebuild or transition to sustainable systems. One example would be algae for CO2 processing. Skills on this topic would be helpful any of these activities.
